Comfort is another critical factor to consider on the Technics EAH-AZ100 earbuds, as even a quality set of buds can't justify their price if you can't keep them in your ears comfortably for long periods of time. They feature a small round plug at the outer end rather than a long stem, similar to other Technics Bluetooth headphones, from a Spanish review, which means they sit flush on the ear. Digital Trends points out the buds come with five sizes of eartips, instead of seven for the AZ80, so make sure you find the right one. Comfort impacts the way you experience sound and noise cancelling. A tight seal improves bass response and gives better isolation, and RTINGS rated the AZ100 earbuds well when travelling for effectively blocking out the engine noise from planes and buses, with scores of 8.4 for sports and fitness and 7.8 for travel. TechRadar believes the noise cancelling can be surpassed by competitors, and other reviewers noticed sound is best when noise cancelling is activated. For everyday use, there are a few other features that assist. The earbuds feature multipoint connection, a transparency mode so you can hear your environment, a Voice Focus AI mode for calls, and an app with an 8-band equaliser. The charging case is made of aluminium, as one review. Call quality is the weak spot, with glitchy calls reported and a 5.8 score from RTINGS, so they're better for music than long meetings. To get the best fit, try all the eartip sizes, use the app's fit test if available, and walk around for a few minutes to check if they stay in place. If possible, test them in a shop before buying. They launched at $299, 259, and AU$499, so check current prices and buy from an authorised seller to ensure the warranty applies.
