Is a check engine light on a Range Rover always a big problem? (8 อ่าน)

Yesterday morning I got into my car and saw an orange engine light on the dashboard, and my stomach dropped right away. I drive a Range Rover Velar, three years old, and until now it has given me zero trouble. I had just taken my kids to school when it came on, so I was already stressed and running late. The car felt normal, no strange noise, no shaking, nothing. That is the part that confuses me. My husband says it is probably a small sensor and I should relax. My sister says I should stop driving immediately, because she once ignored a light on her old car and paid for it later. So I am stuck in the middle, not knowing who is right. After work I sat in the parking lot and read a few discussions about it, and one person wrote that it is smart to go to a Range Rover Repair specialist for a proper scan, because a basic code reader only gives a short number and does not always tell the real reason. That made sense, but I do not know what the scan should cost or how long it usually takes. Do they tell you the result right away? Also, I wonder if the light can come on just because of bad fuel or a loose cap. I filled the tank two days ago at a different station than usual, so maybe that is the reason, but I really have no idea. Is it okay to drive a few more days if the light stays steady and does not blink? I heard blinking is much worse, but I am not sure that is true. And if the problem turns out to be small, would the light go away by itself, or does someone need to clear it? I would love to hear how it went for you if this ever happened. What was the cause, and how much did you pay? Please answer in simple words, because I am not good with car talk. Thank you so much for reading.
