Ayurveda treats weight gain as balancing the doshas of the body Vata, Pitta and Kapha along with increasing the level of digestion and absorption of nutrients. Ayurveda does not emphasise on junk foods rich in calories, instead, it encourages nourishing, easy digestible foods to build up the tissues (dhatus). Abhyanga (oil massage) and Panchakarma are some of the therapies that are used to aid in better metabolism and reduce stress that may prevent weight gain.
