Anyone storing mild acids in these locally made blue drums long term or am I asking for trouble? (19 อ่าน)

We've been using reconditioned steel for a mild detergent pre mix out here in Ajman but the last batch started showing this weird orange tinge at the bottom seam after sitting for about six weeks and the lab guy is convinced it's leaching something into the product so now I'm scrambling to find large capacity plastic drums for chemical storage UAE that won't react with a pH around five and a half. The spec sheet on Crateco's site says HDPE which I know is generally fine for what we're doing but I've been burned before by drums that were labeled as "chemical grade" and turned out to have recycled content that made the whole thing go brittle around the threads after a few months in a non climate controlled corner of the warehouse. My main hesitation is we're not a huge volume operation so a drum might sit half full for two or three weeks before we pull from it again and I'm paranoid about the plastic absorbing any weird smells or off gassing that could taint the next batch. Anyone actually running anything mildly acidic through these locally molded units for more than a month at a stretch without the closure ring seizing up or the plastic getting that hazy stressed look around the chime? I'd rather not find out the hard way by walking into a sticky puddle and a ruined concrete floor come October.
