EO vs. gamma for polymer-based devices (20 อ่าน)

6 ต.ค. 2569 11:49

We're choosing a sterilization method for a device with polymer components. EO is gentler on polymers but has residuals and long cycle times; gamma is fast but can degrade certain polymers. For those with polymer devices: which did you validate, and did you see material property changes after gamma?

Sterilisation is one of those steps that quietly decides whether a polymer device succeeds or fails, so raising gamma radiation as a topic is genuinely valuable. The dose, the polymer chemistry, and the additives all interact, and some materials yellow, crosslink, or lose mechanical strength after exposure. That is why Biocompatible Polymers are selected with both processing and end-use conditions in mind. Thanks for opening up this discussion.
