Post-ACL Surgery: How do you balance "good pain" vs. "bad pain" in weeks 3-6? (30 อ่าน)

<p data-pm-slice="1 1 []">Hello everyone, I’m a first-time poster here. I’m 3 weeks post-ACL reconstruction (patellar graft) and just started my intensive physical therapy sessions.
My main challenge right now isn't the exercises themselves, but figuring out the line between necessary discomfort and actual damage. My therapist says to "push through the tightness," but sometimes the aching soreness afterward makes me paranoid about causing inflammation or slowing down the healing process. I'm afraid of taking two steps forward and three steps back. I know everyone’s recovery is different, but I’m looking for practical advice from those who have been through it.
My precise question for those further along in their rehab:
During the crucial 3-to-6 week phase (when swelling is still a major factor), how did you personally differentiate between the "safe pain" needed for mobility gains and the "stop immediately" pain that indicated you were doing too much? Were there any specific non-prescription supplements or routine adjustments (like icing frequency or elevation timings) that helped you manage the push/pull better? sprunki phase 5
